Ear Surgery (Otoplasty)
Prominent ears can be corrected with a variety of methods. Just about all of the surgical approaches utilize an incision behind the ears. Frequently one of the natural ear folds fails to form and must be created by manipulating the cartilage with superficial incisions (scoring) causing it to bend in the right place. It is often held in place with sutures. Sometimes the ear needs to be set back as well. This can be done with sutures or cartilage excision or a combination of the two depending upon how much needs to be accomplished.
